Educational Android app
The Verwonderpaspoort (Dutch for "marvel passport") gives children access to the world of science and nature. By participating in workshops and activities, but also at home via the computer, they can unlock and discover new worlds.
This project consists of multiple connected web services and devices. Driebit developed the backend and website for this project, while I made an Android app that runs on the tablet used by the children during the workshops. Each child has its own unique passport with RFID chip. By scanning his/her passport, the app identifies its owner lets the child unlock a new world or take a picture with its fellow students. The app makes use of the native Android NFC and camera capabilities. It uses the Verwonderpaspoort API for identification, etc. Exploration of digital worlds is done by accessing the Verwonderpaspoort website in a webview.
